FLUX PROMO LIST
FLUX PLAYLISTS
Along with traditional television/radio promotion, in the 2020s having proper streaming playlisting is extremely important to the success of a song. Flux, CAL's only streaming service with over 300 million active users, has several playlists that labels can book placements on to promote the success of their songs. To book some of the most coveted playlist slots you must take part in our monthly bidding war at the beginning of the month (see our Discord for more info). After the bidding war you can book placements on the remaining Flux playlists through the Google Spreadsheet @calbooking will be posting monthly.
• A song is only allowed to be on TWO playlists at a time, excluding the song's first week where it can also be on an extra playlist, "Flux Friday Picks" (a playlist for new releases).
• A song can only be on "Flux Friday Picks" on its first week of release.
• A song cannot be placed on a playlist if it does not match the playlist's genre (e.g. a pure pop song cannot be placed on the "Rap Radar" playlist.
• A label cannot have more than three songs within the top 10 of "The Hit Clique" playlist.
• An artist cannot have more than three songs on a playlist (excluding songs an artist are a feature on).
• A song can only be a certain position on a playlist TWICE (e.g. a song cannot be #1 on the "The Hit Clique" playlist more than 2 times, cannot be #2 on the "The Hit Clique" playlist more than 2 times, etc.).
• Only ONE version of a song is allowed to be on a playlist (i.e. you cannot have a remix and the original on the same playlist).
• Remixes must replace the original version on all playlists
• Remixes are NOT allowed to be placed on the "Flux Friday Picks" playlist.
• Post-album singles (singles released after an album's release) are NOT allowed to be placed on the "Flux Friday Picks" playlist.
• Album tracks are NOT allowed to be placed on any playlists. Official promo-singles are still allowed.
• If you are booking the #1 position on any playlist, please DM @calbooking a photo an HQ photo of your artist that is at least 500x500 pixels, so that it can be used for the playlist artwork.
• Christmas Music can ONLY be on the Christmas Essentials playlist. It can not be on any other playlist (this includes it NOT being allowed to be on Flux Friday Picks).
• There is no limit for the amount of songs a label can have on a playlist, although it must meet with the aforementioned artist/song limit requirements.
• The 24/50 Rule: After a song's 24th week (or any week after it), if it has less than 50% of its peak month streams, it will be removed from "The Hit Clique" playlist, permanently. If the removed song was booked on "The Hit Clique" playlist for weeks following its removal, refunds will be issued to the label and the previously booked slots will be made open.
We recommend for the biggest hits (that peak within its first 8 weeks) to not spend more than 20-26 weeks weeks on a playlist. This is because, the biggest hits will spend approximately that long charting on iTunes, and once a song falls off the iTunes chart, its streams won't be tracked. Again, this is a recommendation, you could have a song spend as many weeks (limit is 100 due to the position rule) as you would like, but as songs won't be tracked when they fall off iTunes, it is pointless to pay for playlists.
Remember that playlist promotion is vital to the success of your song, and should be as sought after as traditional television/radio promotion.
FLUX RADIO 1
Flux Radio 1 is a radio station broadcasted 24/7 worldwide on Flux. Artists can appear on the radio show for an interview. Along with your artists' normal physical promotion, slots on Flux Radio 1 must be booked by DM'ing @calbooking.
• An artist must wait at least 4 weeks between their appearances on Flux Radio 1.
• No more than TEN artists can be booked for an appearance on Flux Radio 1 in a week.
• An article for an interview on Flux Radio 1 will NOT count towards your artists' 6 articles a week limit.
• On the scheduled week of your Flux Radio 1 interview, make note of it in the Daily Flux Radio 1 Interviews thread.
