Last Thursday, articles emerged with the label signing Sabrina Carpenter, but according to Tiffany "New York" Pollard, that never happened. "I'm sure she's a lovely girl, but no unfortunately that is not true." she says. Their real signee of March is alternative / rock artist Phoebe Bridgers.

"We are thrilled to welcome Phoebe to our roster" Mo'Nique says. "With her amazing touch, our label continues to cater those with different tastes. I'm interested to see where she takes us."

Speaking of their label, a big change has been announced. The label will no logo go by "Vroom Vroom Recordings" but now...

Mo'Nique has said Vroom Vroom was a stupid idea as she felt rushed to name the label, so she is much more comfortable with this new name. "'boygenius' has more meaning to it. Basically, our intent is to thrive like “boygeniuses”, in contrast to our experience as women in the industry who have self doubt or get overruled a lot." She continues: "Men are taught to be entitled to space and that their ideas should be heard because they’re great ideas, and women are taught the opposite, so with women running this label, the name felt right." she says.

For the label to continue to thrive, Mo'Nique needed more team members, which is why Shirlene Pearson aka Ms Juicy Baby has joined as a co manager with Pollard.
